Abracon has collaborated with NXP® Semiconductors to address prototyping and small production needs in the Internet of Things (IoT) sector. Abracon contributions to the NXP kit include timing, RF and Near Field Communications (NFC) antenna solutions specifically selected to match the needs of NXP’s microcontroller (MCU) and RF/SOC chipsets. The NXP Rapid IoT prototyping kit was first announced during Embedded World in February 2018 and is now available through major distributors.
IoT devices have grown in complexity with more advanced computation, sensing and enhanced connectivity/RF requirements that include sophisticated hardware, firmware and software development. Simultaneously, the industry has compressed design cycles for established design teams and startups alike. Rapid IoT prototyping kits based on the Kinetis® K64F MCU and KW41Z BLE/Thread/Zigbee low power RF IC from NXP provide a ready-to-manufacture starting point for IoT designs complete with schematic, bill of materials (BOM) and software support.
