Introduction

Abracon's ATL family of Trans-Inductor Voltage Regulator (TLVR) inductors represents a significant advancement in power delivery technology. These inductors are designed with a specialized high-frequency magnetic composition capable of reducing transient responses to negligible levels in multi-phase voltage regulators, far surpassing the capabilities of conventional Voltage Regulator Module (VRM) approaches.

The newer TLVR architecture in which these inductors are used allows for a swift and efficient response to changes in power demand with current requirements greater than 1000A, making them particularly well-suited for applications where rapid adjustments in large current supply are essential. As a result, the TLVR inductor significantly enhances the stability and reliability of power delivery of Multiphase Voltage Regulation Modules (VRM) deployed centralized processing applications such as hyperscalers and datacenters, AI accelerator modules and PCIe / CXL memory storage. Other applications that benefit from the uniquely high current handling capabilities of TLVR inductors include electric vehicles (EVs), factory and building automation.

Key advantages of switching to a TLVR architecture and utilizing Abracon’s ATL family of inductors are:

  • Rapid response to transient loads ensures high bandwidth, minimal latency, and high throughput
  • Reduce system impedance, simplifying power system design and cutting costs
  • Increases energy efficiency, as less power is dissipated as heat
