Abracon announces the availability of the ClearClock™ AX5 ultra low jitter oscillator with 125fs typical rms jitter. The AX5 marks the latest addition to the ClearClock™ product family and targets space constraint applications requiring a 5.0 x 3.2mm footprint. It supports high data rate and bandwidth applications such as networking, communications, RF, test and measurement, base stations, switches, routers, storage and cloud computing delivering 25Gbps to 400Gbps data links.
Typical Phase-locked loop (PLL) based oscillators with low rms jitter performance consume high amounts of power. With an optimized PLL scheme, the ClearClock™ series offers the lowest power consumption in its class supporting power supply voltages of 3.3V, 2.5V and 1.8V while consuming as low as 130mW of power.
“Industry leading low-power consumption in a smaller package is what the networking and high-performance industry needs,” said Juan Conchas, director of marketing with Abracon. “The need to manage heat dissipation cannot be traded off against bandwidth. Customers require continuous optimization of both phase jitter and bandwidth as well as power consumption, particularly as device footprints shrink.”
The AX7 offers the same technology in a 5x7mm footprint. Ideally suited for high performance clocking, this series covers carrier frequencies from 50MHz to 2.1GHz while supporting the most common output logic types like LVPECL, LVDS, CML and HCSL. All inclusive frequency stability options over a 10-year product life (including set-tolerance, shift through reflow, aging, frequency pulling & pushing), are available in ±50 ppm or ±100ppm standard configuration. The all inclusive long-term stability is guaranteed over a wide industrial operating temperature range of -40˚C to 85˚C.
The ClearClock™ family is now in stock at Abracon’s Global Distribution Network and non-stocked carrier frequencies are available for sampling with a short lead time.
