Abracon’s Industry Leading 22nA Time Keeping Current Consumption Real Time Clock Maximizes Battery Life
AUSTIN, Tx. (November 28, 2016) Abracon Holdings, LLC. (Abracon), a leading global manufacturer of passive & electromechanical timing, synchronization, power, connectivity and RF components announces a family of real time clock IC’s designed to maximize battery life and reduce overall battery requirements in wearables and Internet of Things applications. By reducing time-keeping current to an industry low of 22nA, this family of real time clocks enables years of operation from small coin cells or eliminates the need for super capacitors during short term hold-over requirements.
This family of RTC’s are highly integrated offering a variety of advanced time-keeping features that allow scalable current consumption from 14nA using internal RC mode up to 55nA when fully operating from an external 32.768kHz crystal. Advanced power management features such as a 1Ω power switch, VBAT switchover, system sleep manager for managing host processor wake/sleep states, external reset signal monitor, reset output generator, external interrupt monitor, programmable low battery detection threshold, and programmable analog voltage comparator.
For applications requiring long term holdover, the devices integrate a supercapacitor trickle charger with programmable charging current. Under short term hold-over of 20 minutes, the devices use a standard 22µF capacitor, eliminating the need for supercapacitors.

These devices are available in a compact 3mm x 3mm 16-pin QFN, feature SPI or I2C interfaces and operate from -40°C to 85°C. They are available from stock through Abracon’s global distributors.
