Product Line Manager

Basic Objective & Purpose of the Job:

  • Responsible for product line go-to-market strategy.
  • Key Stakeholder in managing product line revenue and profitability.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to establish customer needs to define new product roadmap.
  • Streamline and develop key business activities through marketing collateral, visiting customers, market/competitive analysis in order to drive revenue and profitability.


Essential Job Functions or Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Define product roadmap - 30%
    • Analysis of market, product, application and competition.
    • Understanding of customer needs and internal capabilities.
    • Create business cases to drive new product development.
    • Engage with engineering to define and develop cross-functional products.
  • Develop Marketing Strategies - 30%
    • Work with marketing team to align with product line marketing strategy.
    • Manage new product releases and introductions.
    • Collaborate with marketing team to define and create marketing collaterals and training material.
    • Provide direction on applications to sales team.
  • Lead business development and demand creation globally - 30%
    • Align with global sales on execution of product line strategy.
    • Collaborate with Regional Sales Managers to develop and create regional specific product line strategy where appropriate.
    • Meet with customer as needed.
    • Partner with regional sales management to determine channel strategy by region including focused channel partners, product positioning and target accounts.
    • Engage and collaborate with channel partner product line management to align with specific channel partner strategies to drive revenue.
  • Key stakeholder in managing product line revenue and profitability - 10%
    • Provide pricing analysis and guidance.
    • Assist Director of Distribution in managing business health, revenue and profitability targets.


Experience / Skills / Competency Requirements:

  • 2+ years Industry Experience, engineering preferred but not required.
  • Preferred Education: BA/BS
  • Experience mapping markets, segments, evaluating product offering, competition, etc. to shape strategic direction of a product line or business.
  • Understanding of industry channel practices and dynamics
  • Result driven and track record of relationship with sales to drive product line revenue.
  • Comfortable discussing engineering concepts/principles.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to engage internally and externally.
  • Self-directed with ability to set priorities.
  • Enthusiastic and motivated team player that can lead global multi-cultural cross functional teams.
  • Ability to manage through conflict and differences of opinion.


Accountability / Scope:

  • External Relationships: Customers, Distributors, Reps.
  • Internal Relationships: Regional Sales Managers, Product Engineers, Marketing, Quality and management.
  • Responsibility to partner with sales to convert new business opportunities to sustainable revenue streams.
