The solutions guide showcases Abracon’s low power ASTMLP series of MEMS oscillators drawing less than 5mA for power sensitive applications. Extended temperature applications such as industrial can use the ASTMHT series optimized for -55C to +125C operating range. The noise and jitter optimized ASTMUP series supports communications protocols such as SATA, SAS, Fibre Channel, Passive Optical Networks, EPON, 10G-EPON, GPON, 10G-PON, Ethernet, 1G, 10GBASE-T/KR/LR/SR, FCoE, and PCI Express.

Precision timing for networking and communications, new solutions guide from Abracon

(April 14, 2017) Abracon, LLC. (Abracon), a leading global manufacturer of frequency control, signal conditioning, clocking and magnetic components, announces availability of new solutions guide showcasing precision ultra-low jitter oscillators for networking and communications applications. A variety of equipment including FPGAs with high speed SERDES, test and measurement, video and imaging, OTN/SONET, servers, cloud computing, high performance computing (HPC), Fibre Channel, storage, base stations (BTS) using CPRI/OBSAI or LTE/4G/5G, precision GPS, RF and RADAR require low noise and precision timing. In addition, equipment using advanced jitter attenuators that support short term and long term holdover require very accurate TCXO and OCXO devices.

The solutions guide displays a variety of solutions with RMS jitter ranging from 75fs to 500fs supporting serial data rates well beyond 50Gbps. Precision OCXOs with low phase noise of -120dBc/Hz at 10Hz offset and excellent short term stability of +/-0.005ppb ideal for base station (BTS) and RF applications are also featured. Ultra-performance MEMS solutions with excellent resistance to shock and vibration in a small 2.5×2.0mm footprint can be used in applications requiring typical jitter of 0.6ps such as line rates below 10Gbps.
