PRESS RELEASE: Abracon Announces Compact Chip Antenna Solutions for GPS and Asset Tracking

Abracon Announces Compact Chip Antenna Solutions for GPS and Asset Tracking
ACA-104, ACA-106

AUSTIN, Tx. (November 9, 2016) Abracon Holdings, LLC. (Abracon), a leading global manufacturer of passive & electromechanical timing, synchronization, power, connectivity and RF components announces multiple compact chip antenna solutions targeting the growing sectors of asset tracking, geo-location and other GPS applications. With an optimal trade-off between size and RF efficiency, the ACA-104 and ACA-106 antennas deliver robust performance in a space-saving 3.0mm x 1.5mm x 1.2mm form factor. Rugged ceramic construction supporting -40C to 85C operating temperature range ideally suits them for the demanding requirements of industrial applications.

The ACA-106 supports BEIDOU, GPS and GNSS bands from 1555MHz to 1610MHz enabling a single SKU to operate world-wide. If offers -1.6dBi to -0.8dBi of gain dependent on band. The ACA-104 supports 1575MHz band and offers -4dBi of gain.

Optimize end system design, Abracon offers antenna tuning services that measure gain and center frequency of the end system and confirm in-circuit performance of the antenna. In cases when the antenna is de-tuned due to non-optimal layout, ground plane or other issues, Abracon will recommend the optimal values to use on the pi-network matching the impedance between the RF IC and the antenna.

“Geolocation and global positioning has become a ubiquitous requirement in many systems,” says Dean Clark. “An excellent alternative to large external or PCB antennas, the ACA-104 and ACA-106  make it possible to miniaturize the functionality of GPS without sacrificing functionality.”

Abracon offers a wide selection of antenna options. These solutions are available and in stock at Abracon’s major distributors world-wide.

“An excellent complement to Abracon’s ASTXR-12-26.000MHZ-512883 TCXO for GPS applications, these antenna solutions are part of a strategy to supply all critical components for today’s growing applications,” says Keith Chapman, Abracon’s director of sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. “There is no question that these applications are becoming a key part of exploding markets such as IoT, IIoT, wearables, transportation and even data center.”

PRESS RELEASE: Abracon Announces Compact Chip Antenna Solutions for Wearables and IoT

Abracon Announces Compact Chip Antenna Solutions for Wearables and IoT ACA-102, ACA-103, AMCA31

AUSTIN, Tx. (November 8, 2016) Abracon Holdings, LLC. (Abracon), a leading global manufacturer of passive & electromechanical timing, synchronization, power, connectivity and RF components announces multiple compact chip antenna solutions targeting the main RF communications protocols widely necessary by the Internet of Things, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and  wearables product sectors. This series of chip antennas are designed to simplify critical trade-offs between size and RF power gain, an important factor in optimizing IoT and wearables functionality and design. Rugged ceramic construction supporting -40C to 85C operating temperature range ideally suits them for the demanding requirements of industrial applications.

The ACA-102 offers the most compact size supporting 2.4GHz Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and WiFi/Wireless LAN applications with a small 2.0×1.2 footprint and 1mm height while offering -3dBi of gain.

The ACA-103 features dual-band  supporting Bluetooth/BLE/WiFi/WLAN at 2.4GHz with -4dBi of gain and WiFi/WLAN at 5.5GHz with -6dBi of gain in a compact  5.0×2.0x1.2mm form factor.

The AMCA31 offers the best gain in the series supporting  2.4GHz Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and WiFi/Wireless LAN applications with a small 3.2×1.6 footprint and 1.2mm height while offering -1dBi of gain maximizing range and optimizing efficiency.

To further optimize end system design, Abracon offers antenna tuning services that measure gain and center frequency of the end system and confirm in-circuit performance of the antenna. In cases when the antenna is de-tuned due to non-optimal layout, ground plane or other issues, Abracon will recommend the optimal values to use on the pi-network matching the impedance between the RF IC and the antenna.

“Knowing that there is no free lunch when it comes to RF performance and size trade-offs, these antennas enable engineers to make appropriate decisions when designing their end systems,” says Dean Clark. “The IoT requires the use of small and efficient antenna solutions. The antenna efficiency is a major factor in maintaining end system communication range while keeping the power consumption as low as possible. The antenna selection and optimization is critical in this role.

Abracon offers a wide selection of antenna options. These solutions are available and in stock at Abracon’s major distributors world-wide.

“Due to a broad development of wireless applications in IoT, IIoT and wearables, the need for compact antenna solutions is growing explosively,” says Keith Chapman. “ Abracon is meeting that need by introducing advanced RF solutions and working closely with its global distribution partners to meet the go to market requirements of system designers.”
